Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (22 April 1870 – 21 January 1924) (Russian: Владимир Ильич Ленин), born Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (Russian: Владимир Ильич Ульянов) was the Bolshevik leader of the 1917 October Revolution and the first head of state of the USSR. In the course of his political career, he also was known as Lenin, V. I. Lenin, Nikolai Lenin, and N. Lenin. His contribution to political science is Leninism (Marxism’s Russian application), his developments of Marxist theory. In 1998, Time magazine named Lenin as one of the 100 most influential people of the twentieth century.2
